At marimba one, we apply the same professional craftsmanship to resonator tuning as we do to our keyboards. We use thirteen different sizes of round and oval tubing on our 5 octave marimbas to ensure a smooth and balanced sound across the range of the keyboard. Like a fine piano, we use felt between every contact point including resonator straps, so your marimba will never rattle or buzz.

Our oval resonators capture a much larger vibrating area under the bar than does a round resonator, increasing the volume potential of the bar. To produce the dark, warm, and focused resonance that marimba one is known for, we use reflexive resonators in the bass end of the Classic resonators. The reflexive resonator is a smaller tube inside of the larger oval resonator. The reflexive resonator causes the overall resonator system to respond as if it is much longer than it really is.
The Basso Bravo strengthens the fundamental for each bass note, allowing the gorgeous lower tones of the marimba to project their clarity even during complex passages.
The Basso Bravo bass line carries clearly without sacrificing any of the warmth and color that define the marimba one keyboard. By focusing the fundamental of each note, we have created the warmest, darkest and strongest bass sound available!
You can choose from two different resonator voicing options: our Classic Resonator Voicing offers a responsive, warm and consistent sound, while our new Basso Bravo Resonator Voicing features a darker, warmer and louder bass—we've reduced the amplitude of the overtones in the Basso Bravo. The key difference is in the sound of the fundamental for each bass note, as illustrated in this graph.
