I am really loving this instrument. It is just beautiful - a big thank you to all of you at Marimba One for building such a beauty for me! I like the simple, logical design and the way the pieces easily slot together. It feels really solid and hasn't the slightest hint of a wobble or a squeak. All of the components you have used look, feel and sound like top quality. The sound morphs really smoothly from the bass end through the middle range and up to the top, and this instrument SINGS - it is very, very resonant and really moves a lot of air (so much so that I am having to do a bit more acoustic treatment in my recording room to control some of the sound reflections - the sound is so strong!). Your mallets are very nice too. True quality and class are sadly not often enough considered a priority in this world of ours. It's comfortable to reach all over, and there's a pleasant balance in the space between the bars. It feels natural to play... The cosmetic design is also unchallenged.... Every piece of the marimba is so fine and finished and fits perfect, but the structure in the wood is wild! A breathtaking combination... At resonators, nothing can beat your delicate curved line. I'm trying to figure out whether it's the shape of a northern light, or the line of a slow-motion running step... Anyway, it's full of taste and energy... [The sound] is clear and open, but still with this dark "woody" touch. I don't know for how many hours I have been standing playing nonsense melodies and single tones, just feeling pleasure in the sound. My first and greatest surprise immediately after setting up the marimba (which I found with your instruction manual very doable even on the first try, and solo) was the ease in which the marimba was to play. I had prepared myself for a long and arduous relearning process converting from bars of uniform width, to bars of varied width. Instead what I discovered was an instrument far easier to play than the one I'd been using for the last 10 years. The switch over was immediate and without difficulty... My favorite bar on the marimba is the low E. It has perfect harmonic overtones and richness without being overwhelming... The bottom line is I guess you could say I'm another ecstatic Marimba One customer.
