Marimba One Artists
Marimba One Artists are a unique group of both world-renowned and up-and-coming marimba virtuosos. They have won international awards and honors, play prestigious performances, teach master classes and commission vital new works... but most of all, they have a special intuition for the marimba, an ability to play its full colors and dynamics, and an ear for the nuances of rhythym and harmony that are only possible on a percussive keyboard.
Marimba One Artists are musicians who bring our marimbas alive. They are also fantastic people, often highly adept at other instruments and arts in addition to the marimba, and as much a joy in person as they are on stage.
We invite you to check out their pages on this site, where you can listen to soundclips and catch some exclusive videos. We will be posting artist interviews and articles throughout the year, so stay tuned!

This March, we released a signature mallet line for Ivana!

Ivana wanted to emphasize the singing characteristic of the marimba, by relating the sounds that each mallet makes to human vocal qualities.
|
|
Ivana's mallet scale utilizes the language of vocal range and timbre. Her six mallets are named for their timbre: High Soprano, Singing Tenor, Boy Alto, Dramatic Baritone, Smooth Bass and Power Bass.

Ivana: There are many things that I feel when I take a mallet and play. The process of seeing the mallet, feeling it in my hand, striking it against a bar and taking the response from the vibrating bar is integral.
I will try to describe my experiences, not necessarily in the order they appear:
I see colours, I feel/see materials (silk, linen, velvet, georgette...), I see/feel the volume and density of the air which dances in the little universe I create while playing...
